Laser Hair Removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. During the treatment, a laser machine emits a light that gets absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted into heat, that will damage the hair follicles. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth. Although laser hair removal effectively delays hair growth for long periods of time, it usually doesn’t result in permanent hair removal. Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed and is more accurate to be named as a permanent hair reduction. Good or better results come depending on hair and skin type. Laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark coarse/thick hair, but it can be successfully used on all skin types by using the right laser device and settings. While doing laser treatments, waxing is not recommended, only shaving if necessary. As a hair removal expert and also laser hair removal technician myself, I can affirm that even after several laser hair treatments, people still need to choose a hair removal method to get rid of unwanted remaining hairs. And waxing will be by far the best choice to continue damaging some hair follicles that still keep growing back. Waxing is definitely a WIN WIN option in a long run!
