The most common methods of hair removal are shaving and depilatory creams. Shaving on its own is the most accessible, convenient, and cost effective form of hair removal. It’s also what we’re most familiar with, as shaving is commonly the first experience we have with removing our hair, Depilatory creams are a close second.
Although you may be tempted to reach for these two items when you are in a pinch, make sure you consider the cons of both processes, First and foremost, shaving and depilatory creams only remove the hair to skin level, which does not make for long lasting results. You may experience smoothness for approximately a day or so, but you will most likely need to use these methods again shortly there after. At the very minimum you will be doing this at least once a week, and we have met people along the way that have had to even use these methods daily (which results in very sensitive skin)!
You can shave or use a depilatory cream at any stage of hair growth, but when the hair makes it way through skin again, it can be prickly, itchy, stubbly. Overall, irritating razor burn is extremely common, while depilatory creams may cause redness, discomfort, and have the potential to cause chemical burns if not used properly. Don’t forget they are full of harsh chemicals!
